About Oatlands Leisure Gardens

Picture

The Oatlands Leisure Gardens are situated on Logan Gardens near Oatlands Gate in Glasgow. The gardens have been very successful and have been enjoyed by local residents for many years. Currently, the site is worked by over 30 individuals and community groups, including Richmond Park Primary School, the Simon Community and the Transition Group.

Previously, Oatlands Leisure Gardens were on the corner of Elmfoot Street and Polmadie Road near the Gorbals, since the late 1980s until 2010. The allotment gardens were opened with funding received from the EU to replace a previous site that had been lost to regeneration many years before.Since their inception, the gardens were worked and enjoyed by local residents. There were 20 plots including two school plots with disabled access, raised beds and a polytunnel.

The allotments were moved in 2008 to a smaller site adjoining Richmond Park School and in 2011 a new allotment site is expected to be opened next to the Hutchensontown Bowling Club green at Oatlands Gate.

With the addition of the new plots from April 2011 onwards, the number of plots will raise from 13 to 31.
